This course covers chemical agent types, effectiveness and methods of delivery. Legal issues will cover California tear gas laws, business and professional code, education code, welfare and institutions code, legal status of non-legal chemical agents, moral aspects of using tear gas, chemical agent policy considerations, pepper spray use in California and animal repellent. Also covered will be medical consideration to include first aid, neutralization, and decontamination. Officer exposure to chemical agent is optional. Practical application consists of a non-active chemical agent.
